The show tricked us, and we loved it anyway. “Ji Yeon” is one of those Lost episodes where the editing feels like a magic trick: Sun is in a hospital with a pregnancy emergency, Jin is racing through a city with a giant panda, and the show dares you to stitch the scenes together into the wrong story. We slow it all down and explain how the timeline misdirect works, why it’s so effective on a rewatch, and why the reveal still stings.
From there, we get into the real emotional damage: Sun and Jin finally face the fallout they’ve been circling for seasons, and Juliet makes a ruthless choice that raises uncomfortable questions about trust, privacy, and whether “for your own good” is ever a clean excuse. So it's beautiful weather here in Winterfell this week. It's just 30. It's like 35 degrees. Are you serious? That's what it's gonna be. Yeah, when people are listening to this. At this rate, it might be winter again. No, we're probably minus halfway. It's either gonna be 35 or minus 35 when you guys are listening to this. You know what? It might be a cr a crisp 20. No. No, we're getting that time of year where it's very hot here. Which is great because it makes up for all the time it's really, really cold. Yeah. I don't Yeah.
TheresaWe just went over this. Yeah. But also, like, I just don't like it's too hot. I like it. I can't. It doesn't really make up for it either. It's not like we have six months of each.
KipNo, but we have like six months of nice-ish and six months of total utter darkness and crap. Okay,
Daylight Saving Time Debate
Kiphere's something for you guys. Okay. I have a legitimate question. Okay. I have a question after too. Um, for the listeners, we live in a part of the world that has daylight savings time. Maybe perhaps you do as well. I don't know. I don't know how it works if I if I'm being honest. But recently, our government sent out a survey asking us to vote on whether we want to have permanent daylight saving times or no daylight saving times or keep it the same. And I don't really know what is best. I do not care. Oh, I think you have to care. And why? I want it not to be daylight savings time anymore. What are we right now? We have daylight savings, so it means when we switch. Yeah in the specific or if we want to stay in the general or whatever it is. Central? Yeah.
TheresaWell, that makes sense. You gotta pick.
KipI mean So essentially one means more summer all the time, like more lightness in summer all the time, but really dark mornings in the winter. And one means lighter mornings in the winter and darker in summer. I think I would go with some more summertime. I think so too. I don't know. I love Manitoba summers. I know. I wouldn't want to give that up. I know. So that's what there's a survey. Yeah, with some cold mornings. I mean dark mornings. Yeah, they're like dark anyway. Exactly. I think we'd get more out of the summer one. Yeah. Anyway, if anyone lives out in one of those that has that, I think some provinces have given it up. But some have not. Um, yeah, if anyone has any idea of what is best, I know some provinces have given it up completely. That's what we're leaning towards, I think. And I just saying that what a thing to have to think about. I don't know. I don't even know. I didn't even know this was a thing.

Could We Write Lost Fan Fiction
TheresaIt's not even really a question. It's just amusing I had when we are when we were doing the last pod. Um, which is, you know, like people write like fan fiction and stuff like that. Do you think you could ever write a lost fan fiction? And how hard would it be to write then?
KipOh well, I it would be hard to get the the right tone to Yeah. I don't think it's you know what I mean? Like, like let's be real. I bet you right now, if I googled fan fiction for lost, it would all just be like Jack and Sawyer. And like Jack. Oh, I'm sure. But so much fanfiction in general is like romances, like like shippings and like things like that. Oh yeah. So there's probably like a lot of like I don't there's yeah, there's much like we're gonna delve into the psychological trauma of Ben losing his mother.
TheresaThere might be more flashback type stuff. Like, I know I'm kind of curious actually. Well, because I remember when I was writing for a hot minute that's um Shannon Saeed fanfiction. Oh, yes, yes, we still have to read it. And that was forgot about and that one was like relatively easy because kind of boring. Like the relationship was like kind of boring. And then I was thinking about if I had because last episode Ben was so funny and so on point. I don't know that I could ever like we've all watched the series multiple times.
AmandaYeah, right.
TheresaSo you you have like a sense of ownership over these characters, but like could you ever like recreate a story, you know, like maybe of them on the island or whatever, and like do justice to it?
KipI'd like to read it. I don't think I could do it, but I would love to read some. Yeah, I bet you it is a lot of that though, like expanding on like relationships and things like that, which would actually, if they're well written, would be nice because you don't get a lot, like you know, that's one of the things that's sad is like a lot of people say you didn't get a lot of Shannon say, you didn't get a lot of Juliet and X.
TheresaYou didn't get the in between when I did write fanfiction, that's what I mainly did is I would write scenes that I felt were missing or weren't elaborated on.

KipOh, okay. We are talking about Jiyun. I don't know if I'm mispronouncing it, I apologize. Uh, season four, episode seven, Ji Yun. Written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, directed by Steven Seymour. Sun is forced to deal with her past when Juliet reveals some startling news to Jin. Meanwhile, Said and Desmond begin to get an idea of the freighter crew's mission when they meet the ship's captain. In a flash forward, Sun experiences a pregnancy complication and struggles at the hospital waiting for Jin. Alright. Okay, okay. Ji Yun. Gian. Or G Yun.

Day 95, 96 on the island, which also happens to Christmas Day and Boxing Day in the world of lost right now. Oh, yeah, I guess so, hey. Cute. Because of Christmas Eve, wasn't 94? Yeah. Yeah. Okie doke. So that means. Oh no, never mind. I'm just sad we didn't get a Christmas episode, you know? I know. I love Christmas episodes. White elephant on the beach or something, you know? Here's a shell. Here's a turkey dinner we tried to do, our big fancy dinner. Yeah. I would have loved a Christmas episode. Someone write that fan fiction for us.

You know, they realize and then except they're all like in they're always in fucking heightened mode, but someone should write you know how they do those like children's books, like based on where it's like when the office they should do a children's book of Christmas on the island for cute.
TheresaI would like to see someone do one where Hurley remembers it's Christmas and he's like at the barracks or whatever, and he finds like a little, I don't know, stuffy or whatever that's been like left behind, and he like cleans it and like tries to sew it up, puts it in a box and then like gives it to Claire. Yeah.

KipThat is one of the things because it's supposed to be a flashback, and those are like newer Pokemon characters. That's what I was trying to figure out. In his flashback and the timelines, technically, those wouldn't have been. They were released or announced when they filmed it.
TheresaYeah.
KipBut when the flashback took place, technically those were not because they were from games that weren't until released on the show.
TheresaThat's what I was trying to because I was like, it had to be consistency.
KipIt had to be. And one that they never would have thought about. Never ever. And then they're like. Is this generation of Pokemon available yet? Like that wouldn't have crossed the set designer.
TheresaThey should have had me on the set. Teresa's actually going to be the Pokemon continuity director for all Hollywood productions. That's why I stuck with season one because I was like, oh like, can't have been that far.

Juliet Crosses A Brutal Line
Kipepisode. Yeah, it's very beautiful and very emotional. It's an emotional one. Was it this episode of Lost we just watched? I mean emotional. It was kind of. Are you guys insane? I didn't think it was overly emotional. Well, I saw Amanda Amanda was crying. I heard her crying.
TheresaI was like, okay, here we go.
KipI mean, it was meaning like sad. It parts. It didn't it didn't get me in the feels like other ones do. No, I just thought, oh Jin. Have no emotions. It's not even just the ending, it's like the reveal and then them fighting, and then that he she cheated on him and then them fighting. Yeah, that was sad. We're talking about this episode.
TheresaIt's sad, but it's not like boo-hoo sad. It's like, oh my god.
KipI said it was emotional.
TheresaYeah. Yeah, but not crying emotional.
KipI mean I can see how Amanda would cry.
TheresaYeah, but it doesn't take a lot. Coca-Cola commercial.
KipI just kind of always know that none of these people that I work with here think that it's sad that Jin is dead or that she cheated on him or that he never saw their baby. But we knew she cheated on him. So it wasn't like a it wasn't like a But did you expect Juliet to reveal it like that? No, that was crazy.
TheresaWhen she said that, I was like, slap her. Yeah. And then she did.
KipSo let's go back real quick. Okay. Okay. So uh how does this even start? Like we literally just started. With her in flash forward. Yes. Getting ready and then being in pain and calling back else. Okay. Yes. So then again, we're kind of we were a little bit wrong again when we said that there was no more flashbacks. Because technically there is a gin flashback in this episode. And technically this is a gin and son episode, then. It is, yeah. It's a gin and son joint joint program. Which they often have. And again, technically it's a flashback. I thought they were always separate. Like a gin was a gin. I think there's that one episode where it's both. You think it's both you think it's just hers or but then he goes to speak with his dad. And then you realize that because they're in a lot of shared sheet scenes, and then he has his own. So you're like, oh, I guess it is. Yeah. Yeah. And that makes sense because they're so connected that they would. That's true. But it was nice to see Sun and Jin again because, like, I don't know, they haven't had a lot of screen time. I don't think.
TheresaNo, they they really haven't.
KipFor quite a while.
TheresaNo, like a couple, like I think Sun's had like a line or two here for their they had like I I would even call it a cameo last episode where she's like, Oh, they left.
KipThat's right. And because I thought they were building up that like Sun and Jin were gonna go hunt for them with them. Yeah. Remember? Like they're helping Jack and Kate get ready or Jake Kat. Oh my god. Jack and Juliet get ready. And then I thought, oh, they're all going as a gang, and then nope, no more son and Jin.
TheresaYeah, they were just they were it was literally like a cameo.
KipYeah. So it was nice to see them again. It was nice to hear them like speaking Korean. It just again, there's like a lot of reminiscence of the first couple seasons of Lost and just sort of like where you had that core cast. Yeah. And because I don't think they've done really anything season four at all. No. Like it's been it's been pretty minimal.
TheresaYeah.
KipSo we do get them. And then, you know, did did you buy the her wanting to go to Locke? Like, did that make sense? No. So no. I didn't fully buy uh Sun wanting to go to Locke's camp. It felt very like reactionary, just like, oh I'm mad. That's the only other option. That maybe like they might just go, we're gonna go down the beach for a bit and get some air away from these crazy people. That might have been a more realistic response or something for Jin and Sun to do, but to abandon everything and go back to or to go to Locke's camp, didn't seem No, and like especially so and I do I appreciate and Juliet says it too later, like she hasn't always been truthful, but she's been r like helpful to Sun. Like why would she all of a sudden like think it's safe? And and the thing is, like, it's not Locke is not a safer option. Like it's just that was I I did think that was very I can't articulate it properly, but I did think that was very out of character that all of a sudden she's like, no, we're gonna stay. And it's like, yeah, this might not be the safest way off the island, but you know, like Juliet says, like, it's something like we have to try because you're in a lot of danger here. Yeah, it felt a little overhanded to just abandon the camp. But then I also do understand, like you say, Juliet hasn't been completely forthright. It did feel a little odd for like the connection they were trying to make when Kate's like or Kate says Juliet or Charlotte lied, or some somebody lied, can't remember. And Sun says, Well, why would you lie? And I think they're talking about Juliet at that moment. I don't know, just habit, I guess, like this sort of like snarky comment, and then you like that's supposed to cause Sun to want to be like, we gotta get out of here. Like that seemed a little bit like that. Like Kate, like shut up. Like, yeah, Kate's how did this become about how Juliet, like Juliet in the end, did make sure everything was fine. Yeah. Like, I don't know. Just yeah, settle down, Kate. Settle down. Like she was just so like angry. She's in like four seconds of the episode, and she just made me angry every time. Well, yeah, she was like frustrating.

Like, but that scene was so sad when they're like, You can see she's trying to get him to stay, and he's upset. And then Bernard comes. Oh it's like, oh Bernard. Sweet Bernard. Yeah, he's like, Oh, can I go? Yeah, oh, sorry.

KipBernard's like so good at reading the room. Yeah, so like when he does go, he of course takes that time to have like a little like mini heart husband to husband, heart to heart. That was so sweet. TheresaAlso, he hires Kevin Johnson to clean it. Yeah. And Kevin's doing a shit job. Oh, the worst.
KipUm, and I yeah, like everyone's just weird on that boat. She's reading her book upside down. That was so creepy. So that's Zoe Bell. Yeah. So she was the voice when they were first calling the freighter. Okay. So I think that's interesting to point out because Zoe Bell's just cool. She's a like Hollywood stunt woman who does like a little bit of acting on the side. And I think it's interesting because she's clearly when they call her many episodes ago, she is clear-headed and responsive. And then when we see her, yeah, she's like so out of it, she's reading her book upside down. That was so creepy. It was like very unsettling because we don't really know why. But we just saw Minkowski kind of yeah.

KipAnd then they said another guy last week killed himself.

KipI'm something like that's the blood blood on the wall. Yikes. And then she's reading her book upside down. She's absent-minded, and then suddenly we see her. Oh, before we get to that, the the lima bean delivery was very funny. I don't even know. When Said was just like lima bean. Yeah, that was very I thought there was gonna be something more to that. I'm like, is that like a code for something?
TheresaNo, I thought because then he gives them like the can opener. I'm like, oh, he's hidden something in the same. Yeah. Because this is otherwise just the most generic random clip of nothing happening.
KipYeah, it was because they did that thing where they kind of zoom in, not zoom in, but kind of like uh focus on the handing of the and I'm like, okay, so we're our attention's supposed to be on the lima bean can and the can opener, but just kidding. Literally nothing, just for funsies, and then so he's just eaten it later with his feet up.
TheresaOh god. I just I don't even know where the lima beans came from. Like he had it in a paper bag, but he had come from the chopper. So strange. And I was like, did you pack food from the island to burn?
KipI don't think it would have been the way he was holding it, I think it would have fallen through. I don't think that bag would have burned all those beans. And why'd he dump them like that? Like, I'm looking at because he was like, they can't seem to find their phone. And I thought when he was gonna dump it, some sort of phone was gonna be inside of it. So weird. It was so weird. It was like a bunch of little misdirects. Because yeah, he just dramatically like dumped the cans and then lime can opener, and you're like, nothing just had to happen. You could have just been like, here's some food for you for later. Yeah, it's like something's hatching here. Like they're scheming. We're all gonna have egg on our face of next episode. It becomes very important that there were lime beans. Oh man. Yeah, so that was hilarious. But we do again, words are spoken to kind of what we're thinking with this idea of like, well, we didn't break out, someone left the door open for us.

So But you know, it it's interesting because I would imagine Said and Desmond wouldn't think their first thought wouldn't be whoever's on the boat helping Ben would also be helping them. I wouldn't. No, I wouldn't either. So that's why it makes sense, right? Yeah, exactly. And then they're eventually slipped a note. Yeah, they get this note with I agree, that writing. What the hell? Was that by a 10-year-old?
TheresaI just it it feels like intentional, but like not intentional.
KipBut it may be because if they find it, maybe that's their way of disguising their handwriting that's because they all they all know each other's writing so well.

Don't trust the captain. That's so funny. Which is very interesting because that you know, we hadn't seen him and he was kind of a mysterious figure that everyone was like, and then the doctor earlier had been like, like, when are we gonna meet the captain? You don't wanna or whatever. Yeah, it's like over. So everyone has these kind of like cryptic things to say about the captain, and then eventually they're on the deck, and the thing was Zoe Bell happens, but they meet the captain. So first she that was fucked. That was messed up, just chains.
TheresaOh, I know, and then she just walks. But then the but then there's the like Desmond's like running to like save her site, and Desmond are like freaking out, and everyone's just kind of like looking over.
KipYeah, everyone's wonky, yeah.
TheresaLike no one like seems to give a shit, no one's even like startled. The doctor is probably the most reactive.
KipYou actually even he's just like yeah, he like I think was trying to help, but only to be like, hey, calm down. Here's a rope, it's not gonna do anything. Yeah, like he but you actually do see Michael in that scene. He has his hood up and he's looking over the edge too.

Yeah, I mean that's that's a loaded question. Yeah, like so many things. Yeah, I don't know. But he like tells them who owns the boat, yeah. He brings him down, shows them the black box thing, which was crazy because we'd we'd seen it all.

KipAnd we knew that this was happening, but to have him kind of lay it out like that and kind of say, like, who would do this? Like what kind of person, and then to say, which is why we need like, how do you say like this is why we're after Benjamin Linus or why he's a very dangerous one of the many reasons we're after. And it's like, I don't know about you guys, maybe I'm just dense, but I didn't necessarily think it was connect that it was Ben that m faked the at this point. At this point, me either. Yeah. That wasn't my first thought. My first thought was Whidmore. Me too. And so this idea that Ben is the person who faked the like wreckage, that was the first time I had thought about it. I was like, oh yeah, actually, if he's trying to keep people from coming to the island, he would want to stop some sort of salvage operation or search, so it would make sense, right? But then that idea, yeah, it's like, okay, so how but all the resources, dead bodies, things like that, how do you do that? Yeah, and I agree, I thought it was more of like a that seemed more of like a Charles Whidmore type operation. And maybe it is, maybe, like, because we don't know who to believe.
TheresaYeah, yeah, because I mean they did say don't trust the captain.
KipAnd that's the thing, it's like we're being told not to trust the captain, we're being told that the captain's an asshole. And yeah, he wasn't like the most friendly, but he has been probably so far the most helpful to them. And like, who's telling them not to trust the captain? Men's guy.
TheresaYeah. So essentially just don't trust anyone.
KipAnyone can't trust anyone, only trust Saeed because he's your friend. And he eats llama beans from the can. And also, why did it take so long for the captain to talk to them? I know. Like, that's what I don't really understand. Yeah, I didn't get that. And where is Frank? Yeah, he's on an errand. We don't know where. I can't remember actually what he's doing. I really can't.

Oceanic Six Math And The Panda Twist
Kipit uh okay. So back to Sun and Jin.

TheresaThey're got some marital issues.
KipMarital issues. So the flash forward, son's having the baby. She keeps calling out for Jin, but she does that, only starts calling out for Jin after they give her like the sedative or whatever. So it's clearly like kind of like loopy. Yeah. And then Jin's having his flashback, getting a doll or a stuffy.

KipYeah, it's huge. So being so lovely. And then we're sort of meant to, but I guess there's a few little tidbits. Like, yeah, his hair is very different. It's got a very old cell phone.

KipSo it's like, okay, maybe these little things are meant to like if you look closely, you can tell it's not the same timeline.
TheresaYeah, that's oh, that's definitely what's yeah. They're definitely.
KipBut I mean, yeah, so it could have just cleaned up since he got back, and like lots of people have old cell phones and like that. Because I was trying to think too, like 2004, like what cell phones were there even? Like, was that a was that a cell phone in 2004? I can't even remember. You know what I mean? So, like, you're right, it could have been I mean it's pretty big for 2004, I think. Well, the other thing is they actually haven't been together that long. So we're really only talking about the difference probably from like 2000 to 2004, right? So um and then yeah, I agree that that scene where like he why would he not answer the phone in the cab? Yeah, and like it did feel like it's a weird comedy sort of like a comedy errors, yeah. Almost like anime where he's like, I'll rip your head off if I find you.
TheresaAnd like he throws his phone, his only communication again or whatever.
KipYeah, it felt like a find you, I'll rip your head off. Like it sounded, yeah, too very out of the way. Yeah, like he's gonna shake his face and be like, Why Iada?

TheresaBecause you see a giant panda in a in a vehicle and you're like, Mine. That way, yeah, that guy's a dick to for getting it out. Like what are you talking about? You'd be like, Oh, clearly, yeah, someone's still getting out, yeah, or someone's getting in.

KipSo it's a bit of a weird scene.

KipAnd then, um, but he's not it, he's not talking to son or anybody in son's family. He's clearly talking to his boss, son's dad, I guess. So it's someone in son's family. But not about son. She was just alone at the hospital all together. Like, yeah, yeah. So sad. Yeah. I'm wondering why, yeah, she's even back in South Korea, but I guess that's where she was. I was wondering if someone said to me, I guess it wasn't that long. I was gonna say, what if she like how could you remember necessarily the name he said? Because like she was sort of being dismissive of names at first, being like, I don't want to talk about names, I don't want to talk about names. I think imagine if she just forgot it. She's like a name the baby, right? Like you wanted honey. I said baby. Right? Remember how that was what we talked about? Right before you found out I cheated on you, and uh then I mysteriously perished at some point between then and now. I think maybe because it was the only name they just said. That's fair, yeah. And it wasn't, I was thinking it was like years, but no, it wouldn't have been years, a few months. Yeah, yeah, about six, it sounds like. Yeah, it looks it sounded like she wasn't ready to give birth. Like, because that's it early. It was very funny to me because when she was like in pain and she's on the phone at the beginning with the episode, she's like, I'm pregnant, I think something must be wrong. I'm like, or you're in labor? Yeah, yeah. And then it I think we were meant to believe that it was kind of early, but the baby was quite big.

TheresaYeah. But I mean, we also know baby sizes don't really matter. Erin. Yeah, exactly.
KipSo so nothing on the the island, before we get to kind of the end of what happened with her, nothing really on the island was that important today. It was more just a story, like it's it was an emotionally driven character study in Sun Engine's. Yes, and it was it was, I guess, to wrap up their because you had always been like Teresa, you were saying back last season, you know, does he find out all these things? So it does kind of wrap up their yeah, it's important, it's important, yeah. But I agree, it's not like lost sort of Easter eggs or um like thump thumps. And it makes sense because you're not like we always have the kind of A, B, C plot, or like sometimes I wouldn't even say that they're all kind of equally, and you're not gonna get like huge revelations in all of them. So the island stuff was kind of blah, the freighter stuff was we know who Kevin Johnson is now, yeah. And we have some idea. We know why they're there, but we kind of knew that from miles, yeah. Right. So you know, kind of like that. And then obviously, the kind of big reveal in the flashbacks flash forward is that they're not it's not the same timeline, which I I do like have a visceral memory of watching the first time and being heartbroken. Yeah, that was very sad. Yeah, because they do try to trick you. Yeah, but yeah, it is sad because then they and they visit, and it was sweet how Hurley came. Oh, so sweet. And then you know, like however she put it out there, maybe she didn't even tell anybody else because maybe her and Hurley are just close. I don't know, but like 'cause all he did was ask, Is anyone else coming? And she said no. And so I I will say this I do think Kate would have come, but Obviously, at this time, Kate is still dealing with her stuff. And I don't think she would have been allowed to leave the country. And then even if it was after that, she's not allowed to leave the country. So I do think that like Kate would probably have been there for her. If she Jack and Zaid are in their own like worlds right now, but Hurley, of course, will always show up for everyone. Yeah, so that was sweet. And her talking to Jin's headstone was very sad. I cried. We know. I know. Everyone knows, even listeners know. They just saw they're like a man's cry. Yeah. But it was beautiful, right? It was so sad and like Yeah, it just sucks that she has to do all this without him. So son's confirmed as an oceanic six. So what number does that lead us up to now? That's it. That's it. That's the six? Unless you like Kate, Jack, Said, early son, Aaron. Aaron. Oh, okay.
TheresaAnd that's what I was trying to figure out at first when I saw Jin um Sons in Labor and Jin is buying this thing. Um, I was like, because at this point they had said that she's oceanic six. And then you see Jin, and I'm like, does this ma like is that everybody? And then I was I was like, okay, so I went through the line and then I was like, does the baby count as a person?
KipRight, yeah. Like G and No, um Eren. Oh, okay. Like, does Aaron count? Right. And I'm not sure this ever like forcefully actually told to us, but yes, it like there's no one else, yeah.
TheresaThere's no one else. Yeah, but at this point, but at that point in the episode, you don't know the Jinn's not like right, you know.
KipAnd I think that's maybe why they have been a little bit cagey around actually naming Aaron as a first to kind of keep it mysterious.

KipBut we're ultimately you have now seen all of the quote unquote survivors of Oceanic Flight each other. The Oceanic Six.
TheresaIt's interesting because like, do you count Aaron as because like he wasn't on the OG flight, right?
KipWell, he was in her belly though, right? So that's the difference between G.
TheresaWe're not gonna say okay, guys. We're not doing that. You guys know. That's where I followed that. So don't even start.
KipIn fact, I won't bring it up, but there was a small part of me that was like when they were talking about like if we wanted to make this political, don't even start. I mean we're not, but I'm just saying don't make it sound like I wouldn't be on the right side of this conversation. Okay, no one was saying that. We're saying it was just how it could go down that road. But don't even get me started. Not a pizza. Not a thing. A pizza with some of my ass in the toe. Oh no. Um, anyway, I come on the right side of that conversation. Anyway, we don't have to go on about for this. I think that that's the idea is that like it was he he he ventured to the island in some form that's right and left the island in the with the group. Yeah.
TheresaBut I'm saying, like, in by that point, by this whatever point it is that she's Oceanic Six in this episode, and then you see Jin, you are, if you're supposed to believe that maybe they are together, then you don't count. Then you would think they were the last two. Exactly.
KipAll right, right, that's right. So it would be like, okay, that's the Oceanic Six. Yeah. Oh, but there's Aaron. So it's yeah. Yeah, so that's where either way, there's no one else. Yeah, exactly. Before we move on to your readings, I do just think it's kind of interesting now because we now know who all the oceanic six are and who they are. But where we are in time, everyone's kind of all over the place-ish still. Yeah. I guess we're not going to be able to do that. Right? Like Hurley is with Locke. Oh, on the island. Yeah, yeah. And Kate and Sun and Jen are actually together right now, but Aaron isn't with them. Where does Aaron? Like, that's right. It's a very interesting if you take a second to kind of take stock of what we know about what's going to happen and where we are now. I don't know what you guys felt the first time you watched, but I was like, how do we get from A to B here? It's a brilliant way to like exactly that keep you thinking that exact thing. How are we gonna get there and wanting to keep watching? Yeah. Because exactly that, they're all over the map. Yeah. Um Are we gonna talk any more about Kevin Johnson or no? I mean, I guess there's really not much else to say. It's just like that was sort of the I guess it wasn't the last scene.
TheresaIt's the big reveal though.
KipI was gonna say though, I do like how it wasn't the last scene. Because often that sort of big reveal is followed by the lost thump. But just like it was kind of nice to end it with Sun and Jin. Like they could have easily switched that around. But I thought it was nice to have the like the nice ending. Because the the Sun and Jin ending, although also a surprise, is like a more like final, kind of like solemn surprise, whereas the Kevin Johnson one is like a like an exciting, like that's the easy cliffhanger, whereas like it was nice for them to choose to end it on that more like emotional tone. Agree. Agree. I mean, also did anyone actually like I don't I guess we can ask you, Teresa. I don't really remember. Did you have any idea it would be Michael?
TheresaNo, I fucking forgot about him. Like, yeah, I I remember thinking that was quite yeah, I genuinely thought that the person who opened the road was Lapidas.

TheresaLike I was like, if you hadn't told me when we watched the episode that it wasn't, I would have been on the same track as Psy this episode. Being like Okay.
KipI I think it's nice to bring back kind of a familiar face. I think that's compelling storytelling. No. Um, and and I think we're just limited in who that can be with how the show has transpired. Like, there's not everyone else is dead. Everyone else is dead. So who else could they have? But it's kind of nice because everyone else, we're we're introduced to so many new characters this season. A throwback is kind of nice to be like, okay, let's bring back a familiar face. I don't think it was nice. Well, I know because you hate him. I was just thinking, yeah, I don't think there could be anyone else. Literally, no one else like escapes. The only thing would be maybe someone who wasn't ever introduced as being on Island that he brought into it. So like Charles Whidmore or like Penny. Penny or like someone's family member. Yeah, no, no, it had to be Michael. Sorry, Teresa.
TheresaThe I mean, the worst part about it is I don't remember what he's doing there. I don't remember what his purpose is. So I can't even fully say it didn't need to happen at all. Like, I don't I don't need a nice throwback to fucking you know what I mean. I don't need that. But because I don't know what his purpose is, it it is it might be, but it for right now it's not.

Um, I I did like seeing Sun Engine again, but it didn't really feel like anything new for me. It was kind of like wrapping up everything we already knew, which is good. I'm not saying it's not necessary.
