Let's Get Lost with The Oceanic Three
We're your Oceanic Three: Theresa, Amanda, and Kip. Join us as we get in-depth about our favourite television show - Lost! We talk about everything: The Island, The Survivors, The Tailies, The Others, The Myths, The Theories, and on and on and on, but we also talk about how Lost changed the television landscape when it came out and how it still reverberates to this day.
Most of all, though, we always come back to how Lost is primarily a character-driven show. For every myth and mystery, five incredible character stories were told. They were complex, mysterious, beautiful, and sometimes challenging to watch - but the characters and their interwoven lives brought Lost to a different level unlike anything ever seen on television.
We would love it if you joined us as we get in-depth about all the Losties, what makes them tick, why they do what they do, and ultimately - what they're doing on the Island.

Jack finally gets a stretch of normal life and Lost wastes no time lighting the match. We talk through “Something Nice Back Home” (Lost Season 4 Episode 10) and why it feels like the writers are sprinting from point A to point D, sometimes skipping the emotional steps that would make the shifts hit harder. The flash forwards give us domestic scenes with Jack, Kate, and Aaron, then yank it away with a proposal, a secret phone call, and a brutal fight that reminds us exactly how fast Jack can spiral when guilt and obsession take over.
On the island, Jack’s appendicitis turns into a messy, high-stakes test of leadership. We break down the beach surgery, the questionable choices that make it harder than it needs to be, and the moment Juliet proves she’s the calmest and most capable person in the room. Rose and Bernard also raise a surprisingly big question about island healing: if this place fixes people, why do some characters still get dangerously sick?
We also dig into the episode’s other overloaded threads: Miles stumbling into something grim in the jungle, Faraday’s soft spot, Charlotte’s one-note edge, and the frustrating way Claire gets sidelined right when her story should matter most. If you love character debates, messy relationships, and the weird logic of Lost timelines, you’ll have plenty to argue with us about here. Cold Open And Friend Banter
AmandaWe're three best friends, and we love lost, and we love talking.
KipBut even more so, we love talking about lost.
TheresaSo join us for some good conversation, laughs. Let's get lost together.
KipTogether. We always laugh.
AmandaIt's just never not funny. I just giggle. By the end of the season, that intro, we won't even laugh at it anymore. We'll just be so used to it.
TheresaI don't giggle. I just it's very funny. Hang my head in shame. No, no. No, no.
KipAt yourself.
AmandaThat's it's important to laugh at yourself. Yeah. Um, okay.
Season Endgame And Finale Format
AmandaWelcome everyone to this week's episode of Let's Get Lost. I'm Amanda, and I'm joined here with my two favorite people and fellow lost lovers, Teresa to my left and Kippy to my right.
TheresaYo, what a dupe.
AmandaAnd uh we're getting towards the end of the season. It's it seems like crazy because it felt like at the beginning that we were so behind and we hadn't recorded in so long, and the season, even though it was short, still felt like we had a lot to do. And now it's almost over.
KipIt's almost over. It's wild. We got this one, then one more reg, and then we're down to the finals.
AmandaYeah. Yeah, it's crazy.
KipOne more reg and then finals.
AmandaDown to finals.
KipThree finals, though. Like it's kind of silly. It's a bit much.
AmandaWell, we as you realize though, it's apparently one hour, and then part one, and then part two is two hours. Two hours. So we're gonna do a part one and a part two. But some places have it broken up as one, two, three. We're not gonna do that.
KipThat's too much.
AmandaIt's too much because long.
KipIt'll be a longer episode, but finales always are.
AmandaBut they really milked the finale in this one.
TheresaLike I feel like at that point, if you're gonna have a part one that's one hour, and then a part two that's two hours, just make the part one a regular episode. I know, and then make part two, two, part of two part one, and part two.
KipYeah, exactly. Because now you don't really get the pent ultimate episode. Yeah. Because like that's always the thing. It's like the one before the finale is like, whoa, the crazy lead up. And now part one of the finale is just that, but it's the finale.
AmandaYeah, it's just it's I think because they're trying to do too much. Season four got it. This episode, actually, and we'll get into the synopsis right away, but this episode in particular, it's it tried to do a lot. It did a lot, it did a little too much, I think.
KipSo I'm very curious what our ratings are gonna be.
TheresaI know. It it did some stuff, and it did, I will say stuff. It's an episode. It um it it jiggled some stuff around. Oh no, for sure.
AmandaBut that's what like I feel like they are pushing everything. Like, holy shit, we only have a couple episodes left. Let's like make some big moves, you know?
KipYeah, but what did it jiggle? What was we just moved past that? Yeah, I can't.
TheresaI thought you said the rankings, and I was like, oh, that you know, people like moved around. Yeah, yeah.
KipNo, I meant the ratings.
TheresaYeah, then you said then I realized you said ratings, and I didn't have to say jiggle around and I didn't have to jiggle around.
AmandaUm, so I do I can't wait till we get to the rankings better because there's just remind me if I forget what is happening. What's happening?
TheresaI pulled a muscle this week and it's really bad. Like it's essentially like across my chest and my back and my shoulder. And when I laugh too hard, it spasms.
KipSo if you go to the diaphragm, yeah.
AmandaIt's really bad, like it's really bad.
KipOh no.
AmandaUm remind me when we get to the rankings, though, that Teresa, I I heard a comment from Teresa during the rankings that I want to say because it was very funny. We'll find out. Don't let me forget because we're gonna talk about a million things.
KipWe're gonna forget because I I'll try really hard not to forget.
AmandaMe too. I will sometimes just saying out loud, don't forget, is enough to keep it in my brain.
KipAll right, let's hear the What are we talking about today, Teresa?
Episode Synopsis Plus Ratings Trivia
TheresaToday we're talking about season four, episode 10. I almost said what disc it was. That's irrelevant information. Um, it's called Something Nice Back Home. It's written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, directed by Stephen, Stefan, not sure which, Williams. Juliet and Kate must work together to save Jack when his health is seriously compromised. Sorry, Claire, Aaron, and Miles uncover something startling in the jungle. In the future, Jack is revealed to be living with a surprising friend and is receiving visits from someone even more startling.
AmandaIt's not in any way surprising that he's with Kate. No, this is not a good one. That's cute. That's cute. I guess based on the fact that last time we saw them, they were like decidedly not together. It is a bit surprising, but it's really not surprising.
TheresaIt's not because all these two do saying, no, yes, no.
AmandaDid anyone think that when they saw that pair of underwear that it didn't belong to Kate? Yeah.
KipLike what did you call them? The flash forwards last time.
AmandaOh, what was it? It was so funny. It was like front ways or something. The front ways the front ways, yeah. It was because it reminded me of when you like wipe front to back. What? Like if you were trying to explain to a kid how to wipe and you're like, you know, the front ways. That's how you describe the flash words. Anyway.
KipAll right. Here we go. How about this? Why don't I get into some stats? All right. Yeah. We had a significant downturn in IMDB ratings. 7.8 out of 10. I think the last time was almost nine.
TheresaThat makes sense.
KipWhich isn't actually, that's basically eight. That's really not that far down, but that's seven just seems to get me. Oh, yeah. 13 million viewers, and we had a one nickname from Sawyer today. And I think it was Dawnner. Which I don't know Dahmer. Dahmer? Wasn't it Dahmer?
AmandaWasn't he calling him a psychopath or something?
KipThat would make more sense because I'm like, I don't understand Dawner, like the reindeer. Like I was trying to figure that out.
AmandaI thought it was maybe Dahmer, but I could be wrong.
TheresaWho was he talking to?
AmandaI think it was Miles. Yeah.
KipBut was that but I don't think that was before I thought that was before that he finds the bodies.
AmandaMaybe.
KipI don't know. But Dahmer would make more sense than Donner. Anyway, one nickname. Days 98 to 99 on the island. So we're getting up there. Two triv quests. They're kind of mid as the kids say. Alright, question number one. Why did the producers want to write these Jack frontways?
AmandaWhy did they want to rent write?
KipLike in terms of like the the Jack's flash forwards today, what was their reason for taking it here? What did they what did they say was the reason?
AmandaI don't know. To make him look like his dad? Like to show that he's like repeating the same kind of cycle downward.
TheresaIncorrect. That is interesting, especially without a sound.
AmandaYou say I thought you had I thought you'd acquiesce to your inability to answer.
TheresaDoesn't matter. You still need a sound. Yeah, so your rules. Unfortunately, your response is inadmissible. Well, it was wrong anyway.
KipOkay. So the reason they said was they wanted to show a period, however brief, where Jack was happy.
AmandaOh was he happy? That's actually kind of cute.
KipThe sort of like beginning to mid before it all went so much.
AmandaLike the when he started, like when he proposed.
KipYes, like basically from the episode beginning to when he proposed. I mean it's like nice to see Jack happy because he's just never happy in anything. I mean, okay, fine.
AmandaYeah. I mean I mean it was kind of nice to see. So I get it. Yeah. But then of course they're like, and now we're gonna destroy it.
TheresaClearly, he wasn't like totally happy because of like what he said at the end.
KipI mean, well, no, but yeah, lingering back there. Then he certainly wasn't. So, okay, question number two. According to the newspaper in the flash forwards, oh no, when do they take place? Jack reads it very briefly.
AmandaOh, I don't know. I all I saw was that the Yankees had bludgeoned the socks or the socks this time, and he was annoyed. And then he said A-rod, which is like a crazy I know, like that ages the show so much. Um does it?
TheresaI thought it aged Arod. Well, that too, but it's just like a very specific, like I only know him as J Lo's ex-fiance.
AmandaBut he must have been so pissed, Jack, that he was on the island when the Red Sox won. Yeah. Um, but I didn't see a date. I didn't look. I didn't either.
KipOkay, so apparently it's August to early September 2007. I'm not sure why it's a range.
TheresaThis is it must be a weekend then.
KipMaybe, yeah.
TheresaBecause usually weekend issues are two days, right? For some like the sun.
KipEarly fall 2007.
AmandaAlmost three years from when they would have landed on. So they're off the island. Well, I guess we don't technically know yet, but we're off the island for about two and a bit, two and a half years. Yeah, that's crazy.
TheresaAnd we still call Aaron the baby, just to be clear. Okay, cool. He walks, by the way.
AmandaOh, yeah. I'm not sure Aaron was ever a baby.
KipYeah, he was large. Okay, that's it.
AmandaOkay. Cuckoo.
KipSo now it's time for Teresa's dream of consciousness.
Theresa's Stream of Consciousness
TheresaI'll say all right. Something nice back home. Oh, classic eye situation zoom in thing, unlost. Uh-oh, they fighting. Oh, they all fightin'. Oh, nickname from Rose. That's fun. Jack, are you gonna be okay? Look, you look like you're gonna be sick. Oh, and he passed out. Oh, hello, Jack. Wait, how how is he with his calendar, Jane? I legit thought this was a hotel, not his room. Um, he naked. Oh, and there are them parentes. Oh, Jack, what's on the floor? Oh, it's toys. Not the fun ones. Um, I've enjoyed this whole routine, Mr. Shepard. Did we know he had a back tattoo? Oh, who's in the shower? Captions you betray us all. The weird tone in her voice. Obviously, Kate. Oh, they're borkin. Wait, what happened though? Weren't they at like odds last time? Uh, he's reading to Aaron. So, like, are we just cool with this now? Um, where are they that she's just wearing his shirt, but like it's her house and it's nighttime? I mean, was Daddy Shepherd tell a storyteller or was he just reading stories real good? Um, Jack looks kind of uncomfortable though. Uh his hands are on our boating. Um, maybe I let someone else get him water? Juliet's at least a doctor? Seriously, Juliet's a doctor. Maybe we let her take a gander. Why is everybody else looking at him? I'm sorry, you were seeing things? What happened there? What's going on? Is he okay? Oh my god, he's gonna find them. Ew. Oh god, that's messed. Okay, but what did you sign up for, Miles? That's still not very clear to me. Oh god. And I would 100,000 million percent let Juliet be my doctor. Oh, it's a pendicitis. That's why he lifted just that part of his shirt.
AmandaUh-huh.
TheresaYou're so calm and pretty. And I absolutely would let you cut me open on an island. Um, maybe we'll just take Jack there and say the other way around. Ugh, fuck you, Charlotte. Okay, yes, she does have a bad attitude. Thank you, Dan. You know, for some reason I do trust Faraday. He's just very endearing and sweet. Um, okay, that makes sense. Thank you, Juliet, you beautiful beautiful creature. I was she trying to get the baby to drink from the water bottle. Uh, Protective Sawyer is so cute. Y'all, that bucket is rusty and that cloth is dirty AF. I mean, that's an interesting question, Rose. But then again, the marshal also did not get better. Nor did Boone. So I guess we're those were injuries and not illness? Oh, Jack, no, no. We don't allow this. Oh dear. Of course it's gotta be Kate looking at your insides. Now you've hurt precious Juliet's feelings. Um, is that Duddy? Um is it Hugo? Is Jack Hugo's emergency contact? Oh my god, it is Hurley. Oh, Hurley, you're not dead, my sweet. Are we still referring to Aaron as a baby at that age? Oh, Hurley. Why did it change after the trial? I don't get it. Uh Hurley, what's the message? Oh my god, what's in the drawer? I got what's in the note? Oh my god, he's crying. Oh shit, I got chills. Okay, so yeah, it makes sense. And I a hundred million percent think he means Aaron. Jack, you were affected, my dude. I'm sorry, Hurley. Absolutely fucking not. Um, sorry, why is Charlie going? Leave her behind. We all agree she sucks. Um, why is Dan being so sketchy? Oh my god, Jin and son are so cute. Also, does Charlotte speak Korean? Aw, son. Oh fuck, yeah, she death knows Korean. You know, y'all should never assume that people don't know how to speak other languages. Um, what's happening? Uh seriously, protective source is adorable. Wait, Lapidas? What's he doing here? Only on the fucking boat? What the hell is happening? I'm so confused. Is someone hurt? Is Kimi also a doctor? Um, Kimi is terrifying. I'm confused. Why was Lapitas running with the first aid kit that they needed if they're not gonna help the guy and then he's just gonna we're all just gonna wander back off in the jungle? Uh so Jack and Juliet are not a thing anymore and he wants to go back to Kate? I mean, that's fine. Juliet is better than this love triangle for the show. Um, Jack, are you good, my dude? Um, do they live together? Jack, why are you lying? Ugh, I knew I knew it. I'm not sure about this. Seems awkward because you know, Aaron, but that's cool. Um, oh, it's nighttime now. Okay. Yes, back to son, being all helpful in the medical things.
AmandaUh-huh.
TheresaOkay, Jin. Yes, he knew it. I knew it. God, he's amazing. Uh Jin, I don't think you would do that, but that's an interesting threat. Uh Jane would do anything and everything for her.
AmandaUh-huh.
TheresaAlso, I love this makeshift situation they have in here. Look at that um contraption with all the flashlights. Oh my god, Kate, I love Bernard. Like, okay. Here we go. We're just okay, yeah, and that's why Awake is a bad idea. Jack, do not put Kate in this situation. Oh my god. Are Bernard and Juliet the team we never knew we needed? Oh my god, she's so commanding. What the hell is this beeping? Oh my god, you're alone. That's so scary. See, this is when bad things happen. Sorry, what the hell? You're not maintenance. And this is not safe, sir. Oh my god, absolutely not. Okay, there's someone else here. Um, Jack, are you okay? Uh he took the batteries out, so y'all ain't gonna be safe if there's a fire. Um do we just keep prescription pads in our pockets? And shouldn't we be doing this? Isn't this like wildly inappropriate? Wait, what's happening? Are you cheating? I doubt it, but who are you creeping around with? Uh sir, or uh ma'am, that is not Noreen. See how easily she lies. Jack, you definitely probably shouldn't be mixing prescription meds with beer, my dude. Where's the baby? What the fuck? Daddy Shepard. Wait, what? Wait, who's your daddy? Is the surgery over? Oh, Juliet, you the baddest. Uh the I think is so cute. Um, Juliet, why did we tell her that? Aww, she's so smart and wise and delightful. Oh, she didn't do it for you, Kate. Shut up. Oh, Juliet, you're great. I feel like something bad's gonna happen. Jack, what's going on? You okay, my dude? Wait, does Kate work? Is she allowed to work? Jack, don't be an asshole. Wait, why don't you just tell him the truth, Kate? Why leave it be? What are you up to? Yikes on the bleaks. What did she do? I don't get why you won't tell him. Just tell him. Who's him? Oh my god, the other love triangle. That's dumb. Kate, you should have just told him. This is worse. Oh Jack, no, you don't talk like that though. Oh my god, I knew that was coming. I knew it. It's awkward, obviously, engagement over. Oh my god, it hurt. The child hurt. Well, yeah. Essentially, your relationship is over. The end. Okay, wait, it's not the end. Who the fuck is Claire? Wait, what? And you let her? Where's Claire? That's just the baby in the leaf. Okay, so I guess now it is the end.
KipOkay. Yeah. Lots there. Yeah.
TheresaUm to unpack.
KipA lot to unpack.
TheresaA lot to unpack.
KipLike you say, there was a lot going on
Why The Story Feels Rushed
Kipin there.
AmandaYeah, there's so much going on, but like I don't really have anything to say.
KipI know, it's sort of a weird episode.
AmandaIt is a weird episode. They tried very hard, like they're trying very hard to push some narratives forward in a way that it's very clear that this was a like a junkated season. Yeah. And that we're close to the end of it. Yeah. Because we're trying to bring back kind of what's going on with everyone. And they're trying to move some pieces around, but it's not overly believable.
TheresaNo.
AmandaAny of it.
TheresaNo.
AmandaIt all feels very rushed.
TheresaIt does, yeah.
AmandaEven the Kate and Jack thing, I appreciate the explanation and the exposition about like how, but it just felt very rushed, both on Island and off, in terms of like agreed. Yeah. Like we get that they have feelings for each other, we get that it's always been like a thing, but it it felt very rushed to get them back to that place. Like it should have been a little bit more nuanced.
KipBecause even like the last time we saw them in a flash forward, it was wasn't it Jack saying, Would you like to grab a cup of coffee? And Kate basically says, No, not until you're okay with him, meaning Aaron. And he's like, I'm not, I'm not okay, or whatever. And that was it.
AmandaAnd now it just is.
KipAnd we don't know why. We don't know what happened. And basically, Hurley kind of says something, and he's like, Oh, I changed my mind.
AmandaAnd he specifically says, and I know Teresa, you had mentioned this in your consciousness. He particularly says, like, since the tri because Hurley's like, since when he's like, since the trial, it's like, but you had that conversation about how you weren't okay with it after the trial. And I understand maybe it takes you a bit of time to process, but just a little, even like one or two more lines about like what did them dealing with it. But it's kind of probably on par for them. They don't actually talk about or deal with anything real. So he probably just showed up one day and she was like, Cool, everything's fine.
TheresaAnd then but still, why? Like, even if he just showed up, like I think we deserve to know why.
KipYeah, like Jack could have said something to Hurley, even if he doesn't talk about King. Yeah, like it would have been the audience needs to know.
TheresaYeah, because otherwise it just kind of seems like somebody booty calling.
AmandaAnd I think that the in that case, the flash forward and the island stuff is supposed to kind of mirror its self in a bit. And I think we're supposed to take from the on-island stuff that why he's back and why he's okay with it is just that he can't live without her. Like he can't do anything without her, he can't move forward from her. She he needs her around for everything. Yeah. And it's just, you know.
TheresaBut one or two lines would have helped.
AmandaNo, I agree. I agree. I thought it was like that's what I mean, though. I think it was rush to be like, look how happy they were for a hot minute. Now look at how he wrecked it.
KipWell, they both cut around. Yeah, they both because they cannot communicate.
AmandaNo, no, they can't.
Jack’s Appendicitis And Island Surgery
KipWell, let's start with the appendicitis or pendic dependendectomy or whatever.
AmandaYeah, appendectomy. Yeah. So he's he was sick in the last episode.
KipWe ended last episode with him like alluding to some sort of sickness. And then he's got appendicitis.
AmandaAnd he's just so stubborn and annoying because he's like, it's just food poisoning. And she's like, let me check it out. And like, then she's like, has it burst and he's like, not yet. And so it's like he clearly knows what's going on. He's I understand the wanting to save them. I understand that being the hero. I understand, but you know what? You can't, you gotta put your own oxygen mask on first.
TheresaYeah, you're no good to anyone.
AmandaRight, you're not good to anyone dead.
KipYeah, and I mean he should know how serious it is, or it can be. Yeah. So it's like, why are you hiding this?
TheresaWell, especially from another doctor who clearly knows what's happening. Yeah. And like clearly, he's I mean, just he knows what she's alluding to because he literally just lifts where your appendix is. Yeah, it's not like he lifts and shows us the entire abdomen, which we would have been fine with. I know that's disappointed.
AmandaDid you was there a scar on him when he was in that shower scene in the beginning?
TheresaWhen he was walking, or was his towel too high up maybe?
AmandaBecause I thought that would have been a good little like not no, I don't think might be too low. I don't know how they work.
TheresaNo, his towel was in a decent spot. I think I think we would have seen it.
KipUm I forget what I was gonna say.
TheresaYou didn't see the scar.
KipNo, but oh that he very much could have just talked to Juliet about it, and it and it wouldn't have had to been this whole beach community process.
TheresaYou know, it's very strange.
KipLike everyone's involved, they're all helping out. And I get whatever, you know, it's a show with a huge cast, so you gotta have people involved. But it was just sort of weird that it was like this it takes a village kind of moment to like save him.
AmandaYeah, and like Juliet's so cute and sweet, so like everything she does is just perfect. So anytime she's allowed to do more, I'm like, great, do that. She's so smart and perfect. But you know, and then she takes kind of charge, yeah, which I love.
TheresaOh, I loved it.
AmandaDid Jin's son, Charlotte, and Daniel all need to go? Charlotte needed to stay behind. But that was a good scene before, and I noticed on your your list here, Kip, you mentioned it because Daniel does want to. So at first, Juliet wants to send Jin and son, but she doesn't know what she's looking for, so Daniel offers to go. And I thought that was very sweet. And again, he did his like whole like whoa surfing.
KipI love this whoa tone.
AmandaYeah, this attitude is why they think that like he's just but like a thousand percent.
TheresaYeah, a thousand percent percent Daniel tiny. This is what the young tiny clap. No, it's not a tiny clap, it's what the young people do now. What is it? It's uh applauding.
AmandaThat's a tiny.
TheresaClap. It's not a tiny clap. It's like applauding. But that's what you think applauding means. But it's not tiny. It's not meant to be tiny.
KipVery tiny.
TheresaI don't think it's supposed to be tiny. They told me it was not tiny.
KipWho told you that?
TheresaSome young people. Did they lie to me?
AmandaI well, I just mean if we're describing what we're doing, we're making a tiny clap. Whether or not the kids think that oh, I hate that noise.
TheresaI hate it. I hate it so much.
AmandaYeah.
TheresaSo we'll be just doing this. Yeah. You know what snaps and snaps and claps for Daniel.
KipYes, the attitude was good. Yes. Like, or that he called her out for it.
TheresaExactly. Because her attitude does suck.
KipAnd it's just like this is where I like I feel bad for the character in a sense. Charlotte? Not the character, but just like the the writing. Like it was so unnecessary to like have her say that. It really added nothing other than people already don't like her. So let's make them hate her more. To be like, well, they already think we're murderers. We might as well play the part. It's like, why, why write that line?
AmandaYeah, who what is that? What is that doing for anything?
KipDaniel could have just said, I know what those things are. I'll go help. And Charlotte could have, if anything, just rolled her eyes and be like, Well, if you're going, I'm going because I don't I don't want to be alone or whatever.
TheresaYeah, that would make sense.
KipBut to have her be like, and Daniel would be like, Don't, you know, that attitude doesn't help. Like, it's like, okay. So that's one of those things where I'm just like, I feel bad for maybe more less the act the character, more the actor to be like, you have to like, these lines are kind of silly.
TheresaYeah, I see what you mean. It is silly. Because it didn't really add to anything. No.
AmandaAnd again, it's still not clear to me what this is. Like, cause even so kind of finishing off their little journey, they all go, and we realize that Charlotte can speak Korean. Yeah. And we realize that um, you know, they're kind of doing this journey. It's still not clear to me if they're up to something. Like when Daniel's like going into the little medical bay, being like, oh, I'll go first with the same. It felt kind of like What was up with the I wasn't sure if it was actually supposed to just be so that they could talk about how he likes her and she could over here to show us she speaks Korean. I wasn't clear if it was just for that purpose and he just played it creepier than it was. I think so, or if it was supposed to be kind of like because I got like a weird vibe from him, like he was up to something.
KipI know it it was weird. I think your first instinct is correct. Yeah, it's just the way he plays it. Yeah, it's just odd. But like, yeah, it felt very bizarre to just like that whole exchange was strange.
TheresaIt was strange. And yeah, no, I I do think you're right. Like, I think it was just I felt the same way until she was until Jin was like, Do you think she knows that he likes her? And like, I think you're right, just as so that they could because they could have said anything in Korean, because they pretty much just speak Korean to each other only.
AmandaBut that would have been something she would have reacted to, yeah.
TheresaSo so it makes sense, but like if I think it was just a just maybe like a setup, yeah, just or and like a poor uh delivery choice, yeah, yeah, yeah.
AmandaAnd it's super cute when they go inside because Sun is reminiscing about seeing their baby, and Jin tells her that he's going to get her and the baby off the island, and it's so sad because you know that was successful for her and the baby, that's right, but not for Jin. Yeah, and it's kind of like one of those like oh moments, right?
KipWe've seen what happens, yeah. Yeah, the the the orchid, is that where they went? Is that no swan?
AmandaSwan, I think they should give them better names.
KipIt was funny how like they're like right there, and then like season two or three, whenever they found this station, it was like it was a day-long trek, you know, like I know I don't a whole episode. And it's just funny when they do these in shows where at the earlier seasons, it was the same with like Game of Thrones, like it would take them literally a season to get somewhere, and then by like the later seasons, it was like one episode and they're there.
TheresaThe time shifts based on need, the need to drive storyline or to to hold it back. Yeah, they have no concept of how far anything is. No, because half the time someone runs there and it's like two hours, yeah, and then they're like, Oh, we'll make it by morning. I'm like, Well, but you can run there. How fast do you run? Excellent.
AmandaAnd and truly, their ability to remember where they're going is fascinating to me because it all is just trees. Exactly.
KipLike maybe there's a bit of a trail by now. I don't know. Yeah. So we'll stick with the append appendix storyline. On islands. The on island. The back, get the shit, and kind of get it all set up.
AmandaYeah. And they use an airplane wing or airplane door as well. Open it down with the rusty bucket.
TheresaThey were fantastic.
AmandaYeah.
KipBernard is just so hard. Bernard was great. He was he was amazing. What do we think of Rose's uh Rose and Bernard's little interaction there?
AmandaWell, what yeah, exactly. What do you make of it? Like, is she right? Like, why is he sick and people can't get sick? And is it a punishment or is it a warning or is it an attempt to stop him, right?
KipYeah, like when she said that, my mind went to a different before Bernard said, like, oh, you think the gods are punishing him, or whatever? My mind was like, Is she insinuating someone did this to him? Like, some I I know you can't give someone a sitis, but like I thought she was like gonna say something like someone's messing with us or whatever. But it was this whole thing about how she's gotten better and other people have gotten better. But like you said, Teresa, Boone, the Marshall, you know, not everybody does, but also Ben. Yeah, Ben.
TheresaThat's the one that I forgot about until just now.
AmandaI'm like, someone else got like sick, but like no one gets sick, because the injury stuff you could say is like a different mechanism, right? Like sometimes you can't control that, right? Yeah, but Ben got sick, yeah. So what so why is it that only some people get sick? And why are two examples of it Ben Linus and Jack Shepard? Like those are very different people. So is it to stop them? Is it to I I don't know. It's not gonna work, right? Like they have another doctor now. In theory, like taking out the doctor, taking out the pilot, all that stuff we've talked about before, keeping them there makes sense, right? Yeah, like taking out the pilot so they can't leave, taking out but now like they have other people that can do all this stuff.
KipOh, don't make me don't know. Are you unaware of what the references are here?
TheresaYes.
KipWell, the the smokey took out the pilot. Yes, and he was a capable person, yes, and then what who else did you say?
AmandaWell, there's not really anyone else, but they didn't really need to think about it.
KipYeah, it is it is odd to think about Ben and Jack kind of coming down with these very serious medical conditions when other people show up and they're cured.
TheresaYes, right?
KipSo I don't know what to make of that.
AmandaI I don't know, but I like that Rose is thinking about it, yeah, exactly.
KipAnd Bernard is sort of like, okay, you crazy.
TheresaYou crazy. We move on. Yeah, we do surgery.
AmandaI also love that, like when Jack did demands that Kate assist, and Bernard is like, or she's like, What about Bernard? And he's like, No, I want Kate. But Bernard's helping helping anyway, yeah. So he wouldn't have been able to do that. So he's actually doing things that are of value.
KipOh, yeah, Hundys. What about that scene when when Juliet's getting him ready, shaving him? You hated it.
AmandaI know, but I love everything she does.
KipI love her.
AmandaIt was just again, it's supposed to show this like connection, I think, that they have, but you know, she came to some realization to say that no matter what their connection is, it's not yeah, not romantic.
TheresaNo, and she's she's so smart, soul-wise, very smart, so pretty, so funny, so calm. Yeah, she's the best.
KipShe could read it instantly. It was odd how Jack was so insistent that Kate's weird.
TheresaLike I think he has to be in there, like, yeah, okay, buddy. Can we talk about how traumatizing it is to be in love with someone and have to look inside them?
KipWell, that was such a good scene because it's like when they're actually doing the surgery, and Kate is like freaking out understandably.
AmandaYeah, you're coming. Jack's like forcing her to watch this, and like forcing all of them to like like his whole like, oh, I'll lie to Kate. And first of all, we forgot to say that I think you said in your to your consciousness, but I really do love that Kate asked why they couldn't do it in the medical bay. Yeah. Because that was the first thing we all thought of was like, why couldn't they take a note? So I'm like, I love when shows answer those, like, because lots of shows don't, and a lot of people are just like, oh, you know, you don't they're not gonna answer everything, but I love when they do, so I really like that. And again, it it shows like Juliet was trying to like control the situation and had a handle on the situation, and then Jack has to always be Jack. I got I'm gonna watch it, and I'm just gonna have lidocaine, like lidocaine on like uh cutting through to your organs is probably in the air. Are you going to drink 70 gallons of it and then insert it into your tissues?
TheresaLike, yeah, it's not gonna, it's not gonna work. Give him a bite stick, yeah, tie his arms down, tie his legs down, yeah, and then you can watch it like that. Like tie his chest down, tie his whole body down. He will react, sir.
KipYeah, do you guys remember when they gave Boone a blood transfusion? Yes.
TheresaYes, that was sun.
KipRemember? I do remember.
AmandaThat was wild, and that is also why it's a little bit kind of well, I don't know what any of these things are. Like you used to be essentially Jack's assistant.
KipWell, that's just it. Yeah, exactly. Like she was somehow knew all that stuff.
AmandaShe was like his nurse, yeah.
KipYeah, that was a little decision. And now it's like, I don't know, medical things, yeah, yeah, yeah.
AmandaWeird. And we won't have her in there or someone we're gonna have Bernard does make sense, he's a dentist. There's so similarities, exactly. And then Kate with the with the tiny mirror.
TheresaThe tiny mirror. That was so weird. I can't see it. Hold it up higher. I'm like, excuse me, sir. Like, calm down. Like, you're making your life so much harder.
AmandaLike, sorry that she's crying and you're freaking out, and she moved it an inch. Also, like, do you want to live?
TheresaBecause Juliet is holding a scalpel to your abdomen. Yeah, like, sir, the more you I'm sure she has a very steady hand. I have no doubt about that. You fidgeting, not helping. She's gonna cut your spleen.
KipThat's why I wrote my favorite line from the show is Juliet saying, Okay, get out of here, dab up Bernard, knock him out. And it's so good.
AmandaShe she's really phenomenal from beginning to end. Because even when she is that shaving scene and he's like, When was the last time you did this? And she's like, Surgery or shaving a man's stomach? Like, she's always has it says exactly what you expect she would say. And yeah, yelling at them like that was because that was out of control, and she has to.
KipYeah, and the maybe Bernard being like, sorry, Jack, I agree with this.
AmandaThat should have always been what happened. Also, why do they have chloroform?
TheresaLike, truly. Did they get it like just in case from the from the swan station?
AmandaFrom like Ben's bedroom? Like, I don't understand.
KipI could see Ben being like, We need chloroform stalks.
AmandaWe have a little bit, we want a little bit of chloroform, Jack. So we could just knock you out for this. Like, where? And what where have you guys been hiding it in? What have you been doing with it?
KipBut it was it did come in handy because so like wasn't necessary, this whole surgery thing. Like, what was the point of it?
AmandaI think to show that like he's again to kind of reiterate how stubborn and single-minded he is. Because even at the beginning of the episode, when he's like fucking about to pass out again, he's like, I'm gonna I said I was gonna get you all off this island, I'm gonna get like he's just so obsessed with saving them all, yeah, even at his own cost. And he's so obsessed with Kate, like he has these singular ideas, like he's obsessed with saving them and he's obsessed with Kate. And kind of the surgery sadly showed both and like made Juliette see.
TheresaYeah. I think it also showed us that like he's not the only capable person on that island. Like he I mean, our usual like default if Jack's not there is Locke, and Locke's off doing being weird. So he's become quite capable. We'll talk about him. But like he's not there either, right? So, like, yeah, you know, and Kate is not a leader, Saeed's not there. Yeah, we still have some we have someone who's a doctor, we have someone who is much calmer, so calm. Um, you know, doesn't react solely on emotion. Yeah, um, is shocking because she's a woman, but is um, you know, thinks very logically and like very rationally about things. Like even like later when she's talking to Kate, like she could just keep that to herself.
KipYeah.
AmandaYeah, but I do think this this a lot of the on island stuff was to remind like to show us how, because really on island, the last time we saw Jack with a woman, it was kissing Juliet. So they had to show us some way too that we we got from kissing Juliet to being engaged to Kate. And this I think was kind of the catalyst for that to show something, you know, a lot of times when something really bad happens, our feelings come out, and it just was to show us like how like because if we didn't have this scene, these scenes between Kate, Juliet, and Jack, I would have been like, What how the hell? Like, how are you guys back together? Last time you were telling Juliet you liked her and you're kissing her. So I do think it was partially that to be like, how did we how did we have to cut Juliet off? Like that that romance, that like angle has to be over. Yeah, how can we do it quickly and swiftly? Yeah, which is again part of my issue with this episode, which is they tried to move, they tried to deal with too much too fast. Yeah.
KipSo the convo at the end um of the surgery with Juliet and Kate, and Jack's awake for it. Love her, love her.
TheresaI love how she's like, I know you're awake, and then he just roll, he just rolls over, like, yeah, I am.
KipI mean, yeah, it basically summed up what you said. It was just the uh vehicle to get us to Jack and Kate being engaged and happy for a hot minute off in the front waves.
AmandaAnd the saying, Kate knew about what happened with Juliet, she's okay with it. Juliet's accepted it. There's that door is completely closed now. Like I think that's why you know she said to him, like, I know you're away because I want you to know that I know that this happened, and I want you to know that this is over. Yeah, because I know what this was.
KipAnd I think it was like it's kind of nice to finalize that, yeah. And like uh no more love quad square squares now.
TheresaIt's not even a square, it's like two overlapping triangles.
KipLike it's but so at least Juliet and Jack are not, we don't have to worry about that anymore.
TheresaNo, best friends till the end.
KipLike, thank goodness, because they are good comrades, yeah, great chemistry. Uh they have a uh a shared goal and reasons for wanting to go off the island. They have very similar personalities in that they're strong
Faraday Charlotte And The Korean Reveal
Kipand capable and all these things, and they work really well together, yeah, and they have a good foundation, yeah, but it's not passionate love.
AmandaNo, and that's why, spoiler alert, season six is so great with their connection, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that is the absolute right way for them to be.
KipYeah, no, that's good.
AmandaWe can talk about it later.
KipSo let's let's do Sawyer Miles Claire. Another point on my board is so Claire's a character is basically nothing at this point. Like, what it what even is she?
AmandaI don't know. Like if Emily DeRavin's contract was running out, no character or they're just like she wanted out, they wanted her out. I don't know, but they have barely utilized her since season one, really.
KipI mean, it's yeah, like I feel like they just had too many characters from the beginning, and they just sort of like lost interest in some. That's what it feels like. They just lost interest in Claire as a character, even though we know him, her and Jack are siblings. We know that, right?
TheresaWell, now we do.
AmandaWell, it was no, it was we did, it was alluded to before because he goes to her house, right?
KipRemember, uh Christian Shepard goes and demands to see his daughter. Yeah, we do know this. Okay, and um well, she also says dudde.
TheresaAnd I was like, Dudde.
KipAnd then Aaron is Jack's half nephew? What what nephew, nephew, yeah, I guess, yeah, nephew. And so, like, we know these things, so it should be complex and interesting. I still don't know what to do with Claire.
AmandaDoes Jack know that Claire is his sibling?
KipNot yet.
AmandaBut does he find that out by the time he's having his argument with Kate at the end?
KipI believe so.
AmandaOkay, because I don't remember exactly how that goes, but he must.
KipI believe so.
AmandaBecause it wasn't he's not your son, it's you're not even related.
KipYeah, you're not even related. And he's very interesting. Insinuating I am exactly, yeah.
AmandaSo I thought that was very same, yeah. But anyway, sorry, just didn't want to forget to say that because that was a very interesting choice of words and very hurtful, like, of course, in many ways. But so they're all yeah, Claire's just Claire's just baby basically a baby holder at this point.
KipEven like the fact that they like gave her a concussion, so she doesn't even have to say much like my head's feeling a bit better. Like that's all she gets.
TheresaShe looked she literally got killer off in that episode. Zero points, and she didn't go down, she didn't go up. She did diddly squat. Yeah, diddly squat.
KipIt is odd that they seem to lose interest in certain characters. Said's another one, but they just didn't know what to do with. We talked about that last time.
AmandaSo they just made him a weird assassin.
KipAssassin, and Claire, they're just like, we know what to do with her, so just give her nothing.
AmandaI'm really pissed they didn't kill her off though in the last one, except for the fact that if they hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to dress as her for Halloween in 10 years ago or whatever that was. But I'm just saying why if you're not if you're going to like, and and this is not really a spoiler, like she's she's not gone forever, but like she's not present, yeah. Like, she's not nothing that happens with Claire going forward is valuable.
TheresaIt was what you need that's crazy though. It is, yeah.
AmandaAgain, we gotta drive everything is coming to a head. So they're like, shit, we have all these moving pieces. We've set Hurley up as crazy and Jack as like losing it, and Kate and him need to be together so that they can be apart again. And we need to show how Juliet and Jack have a falling out and how Claire and Aaron end up separated to the point where yeah, Kate has Aaron. Just kill her off last episode.
KipI know it would have made more.
AmandaI'm so sorry, Emily De Raven. You're very great, but you're not, it's not worth it.
KipIt would have made more sense. It would have made way more sense. Because having the shell of a character.
AmandaI'm certain everyone who saw her body in that rubble for the half a minute before Sawyer Savior is like, oh, okay, that's because everyone's probably before that she was barely doing anything. Yeah, and everyone knows Kate has Aaron in the flash forwards, right?
KipExactly. Everyone's like, oh that's why we get that's why.
TheresaBut I think that's unfortunate because it's like I don't know, as we all know, I don't know how we get from where we are to where we go anymore. Just gone. A part of me is like, that's so sad. Because, like, to me, I want to know like how we got to this point where you don't have your obviously, like you just disappeared. I don't know why. I don't know where you went. I would like to know. I would like to know if you ever get to see your kid again. I would like to know how that feels for you, knowing that they are not there at some point. Are you alive? Do you know this? Like that to me would be like compelling. So, like, why like it's sad to me to hear that like nothing else kind of goes on.
AmandaIt it's not that nothing else happens with her, like, but like I mean, she's not going to be like why anyway as satisfying as it should be for a day one character who had a Aaron being with Kate is a huge plot point.
KipAnd just her having Aaron on the island was a huge plot point. And her and Jack are a huge plot point, like the relationships, and so the fact that she just disappears into the jungle, we don't even get to see her seeing Christian luring her out, or however that happens, is just like yeah, again, like just a slap in the face to her as a character and us as an audience kind of just being like, Oh, I guess we're not supposed to give a shit about Claire.
AmandaAnd certainly what it feels like, and I would be the first to admit if I was ever told this differently, or if it's out there, whatever. But what it feels like is they said, Oh shit, we have three episodes left, and we have not remotely close to gotten to the point where we've explained how Aaron is with Kate and not Claire. Yeah. So let's lure her out into the when she had four lines the whole episode. Yeah.
KipGive us Claire just seeing Christian and following him over fucking miles, being like, Oh, I've got a restraining order. So I didn't. Anything.
TheresaYeah, I didn't need that. Come on. We know he's an asshole.
AmandaLet's move on. Bad writing moment of like kind of like the Charlotte line. It's like it also feels like they don't know how to write for these new characters.
TheresaYeah.
AmandaSo hey, yeah, here's an idea. If you can't write for five four or five new characters, because Daniel Faraday's cool. He's great. Yeah, he's fine. Bring in two that you can write for. Exactly. Or don't bring them in and use the characters you already have. Or get rid of them. Fine. I understand. But I I truly, it's such a weird thing to say. I wish she had just died in the explosion. I know. It would have been more impactful and it would have been more final.
KipIt would have, yeah.
AmandaSo and now they're like, oh shit, we can't kill her now because we almost killed her last episode. I guess we'll go have her live in the forest or whatever. Yes.
TheresaOkay. But I mean, also that brings back that something I said like when I was, or like something that I thought about is like when you say that we have so many new characters, like again, don't remember anything. And Miles is I can't remember what they say, but like it made me think, like, why is Miles here? Like, what is his point here? The other two are scientists, fine. Something freaky's going on around here anyway. But like, why is he here?
KipGood question.
AmandaI think it's to do things like what he did today, which is find dead people. Yeah, like he can commune with the dead.
TheresaBut like he had to walk over it. Like, it's not like I don't think he was necessarily looking for it.
KipLike, I think that it's gonna but and yeah, it's it is an odd thing because I remember when the like early in the season he was like, take me to Naomi's body, like because then he'd know what happened to her. Like, okay, but like did you, Charles Woodmore, or Naomi or Captain Boatman feel we need a clairvoyant just in case it's odd, just in case Ben's dead and we can find out what happened to him? Like, I don't know, it does seem weird.
TheresaYeah, it just kind of feels like do do we need him?
KipYeah, and and that's a good question because I do not remember if that's ever really explained or not. Okay, so we'll find out, okay, or not, or or possibly not.
AmandaSo she's gone now.
KipShe's gone.
TheresaSawyer finds Aaron in a banana leaf.
AmandaYeah, yeah, it's just baby and a leaf now.
KipYeah, you said baby and a leaf, or it's still there. You said it's like oh it's still there.
AmandaIt's it's just Aaron and a leaf. Like it's in there, it's very weirdly praised. But now I'm sorry, Sawyer's very adorable though. Like his defending of her, yeah, his watching out for her, his caring for her and Erin. Very, very sweet. I just a good man.
TheresaJust to bring it back, I'm sorry. I I'm like thinking that like Claire's pregnant on the island. Super interesting. She falls in love with Charlie, they're cute. He dies. She exists. Yeah. Now Sawyer's looking after her, and that's cute. So why is she just a vehicle for other people to step up essentially?
KipWell, and that is a good point of how they really didn't know how to write women characters that well.
AmandaNo.
KipLike female characters.
AmandaNot consistently.
KipConsistently, yeah.
AmandaLike Juliet's probably the most consistently well-written character.
TheresaOh, I love her. Yeah.
KipSun was great in the beginning.
TheresaSun fell off.
KipThey kinda like don't give it the same effort, I would say.
TheresaI'm getting that vibe.
KipBecause you're right. She had some very interesting things, but also just sort of like a vehicle for these men to be to step up and be better. Good point, Teresa. So it was clear. Sawyer is great. He has the baby. He has the baby now, and they're on their way. Him and Miles and Aaron. And that's kind of it for On Island. We don't see Locke Hurley on the island or Ben
Claire’s Exit Miles’ Purpose Sawyer Steps Up
Kipanymore in this episode. Um, so should we talk about the flash forwards? We we've talked about them a little bit, but Jack gets to be happy for a bit. Kate's happy for a bit.
TheresaThey're both getting it on the regular. But Jack's downfall is swift.
KipVery swift.
TheresaHoly shrew holis.
KipSo do you think it was Hurley? Do you think it was seeing his dad? Do you think he saw his dad because he saw Hurley? I do.
AmandaI think well, I mean, I guess it depends on what you're what you believe seeing his dad is, is if that's some sort of real thing or it's just in his mind. I think it's his mind. I do think it's because of Hurley. I think Hurley planted that idea in his head.
KipAnd yes, someone's gonna come visit you, Hurley said, right?
TheresaHow could you how could you not like that gives me if someone told me that they had seen our dead friend and then was like, oh, also he told me this and it relates directly to what you're doing now, and then says someone's gonna visit you, like I would a hundred percent believe it was happening.
KipAnd like Hurley, the last time we saw him in the flash forwards this season, he was alright. No, he was still in the in the place though, right? Like he was still there, I was playing basketball with him. Yeah, but he wasn't like fully not like refusing meds, refusing therapy, like thinking everybody's dead.
TheresaHe was in like a better mental phase.
AmandaHe was in like a kooky kind of phase, like he wanted to be in there because that's where he felt safe.
KipYeah, and so kind of like what you were saying before, Amanda, is just like how'd Hurley get there? That's another missing piece. Like, what what was this downfall? Like, we have no idea.
AmandaAgain, I think it's just to say, like, to kind of get us back to this kind of mythical place of like, how do we go from Jack being really happy to we have to go back that we saw at the beginning of the episode, right? Oh, yeah. And I think that's again, they're like, oh shit, we're running out of time. We have to really snowball all of this, right? So Hurley's crazy and hearing from Charlie and hearing all these things, and then that makes Jack spiral. We don't really know why Hurley spiraled or how long it took. That's the other thing. The timing on this stuff is hard.
TheresaWell, where does it fit in relation to him visiting Sun?
AmandaWell, exactly. Yeah, good point after has to be. Who knows? It must be, it has to be, certainly.
KipBecause did he go into the facility right when they were back? Because he crashed his car. When was that? Like, well, because he saw Said at one point, right?
AmandaSo, what was going on with Said at that time? The timeline is a little bit like how old was Sun's baby when they went to visit Jin's grave.
KipExactly.
AmandaAre we close to when they're gonna have to go back to the island? Are we closer to in time to when they got off the island? Like the trial had to have taken some amount of time. Like, it's just all the timeline of everything's very off. And it's again just to try to show us like where is everyone at? Yeah. Oh shit, we were kind of doing it a little bit of a snail's pace showing, you know, a little bit of sight, a little bit of sun, a little bit of jack and hell.
KipAnd now we're like, it's like boom, boom, boom. What did I what was it last time they said it was like don't remember some share storytelling enhanced high octane, high octane, super high octane, that's it. High octane, yeah.
AmandaSo they're not wrong.
KipNo, and they but it comes at a cost. Oh, certainly.
AmandaUh a 7.8 rating on IMDb is the cost on a show that consistently ranked before this. We give our ratings 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10.
KipArguably are are more important than IMDB ratings.
AmandaYeah. So obviously.
KipSo, I mean, we've we've danced around it. Let's get to that scene with the argument.
TheresaUgh. Well, our Jackie boy has started taking clonazepam with burr.
AmandaWhich it literally is the worst thing you could possibly like he is a doctor. Crazepam. Cl clonazepan or whatever. It's it's clonapene, which is a is that like a it's a benzodiazepan that is used to treat. Um she just looked this up for me earlier. Obviously, I was gonna say, how do you think that's a good thing? I don't think anyone here like everyone knows I'm not a doctor. Like they yes, I looked it up. I don't know.
TheresaI just wanted to, I just wanted it was literally like an hour. Because it was very impressive.
AmandaYeah, I'm not a doctor, nor am I addicted to benzodiazepines.
KipRemember this though, is impressive. Yeah.
AmandaSo it's used to treat seizures and panic disorders, and then its off-label use is sometimes like extreme anxiety and insomnia. So I imagine that's more why he was asking for it. But the first thing it's by the way, I did look it up, and the first thing it said when I looked it up was do not mix it with alcohol. So he's a doctor. Not everything, but usually when they say it, there's a reason.
KipFair.
TheresaI mean, like for my prescription meds, like because my doc because it said like don't drink with alcohol or whatever. And I was like, hi, uh, does that mean I have to be sober forever? Yeah, and my doctor was like, No, no, just don't take it at the same time. Wait an hour.
KipDon't drink it down with a yeah, like don't use the beer as the way to swallow the ask.
TheresaEssentially, yeah, she's like, wait an hour and then you're fine. I'm like, okay, so I can keep drinking.
KipClearly didn't give a shit. No, yeah.
TheresaHe's like, I'm a doctor, I know what I'm doing.
KipSo again, this is sort of like the fast track way to see where he is in the premiere, where he's fucking messy ass apartment, beer bottles everywhere, maps and tickets and shit.
AmandaAnd like and we know that he's really gone far down because he has that huge beard in the premiere, and in this one, we find out she bought him a razor to be clean shaven. That's right. So holy shit, it's got it's really far.
KipOh, that's so funny. Lost loves to tie things together. Um a romantic gist. What do you have to say? Jack's Bronco, holy shit. Just drives me wild.
TheresaWhat's a bronco?
KipBaby.
AmandaI didn't catch you. I didn't think of you as a car guy.
KipCrazy.
TheresaReally? Yeah, does nothing for me.
KipOh, baby, it's nice. Anyway, so I got a glimpse of the Bronco again today, so I was happy. You're like, yeah.
TheresaHow do you feel about OJ?
KipBronco points.
TheresaWell, like orange juice or my favorite Simpson.
KipLike my favorite arrested development quote. One of them is when they're going to the Ford dealership and they're like, Oh, yeah, this is the model that replaced the Bronco, you know, after the whole OJ fugitive thing, we wanted to rebrand. They're calling it the escape. It's like oh yeah, that's so good.
AmandaAnywho, yeah. So good glimpse for you into the Bronco then. Um, he's losing it. And that that fight with Kate was, you know, as the resident Kate non-supporter, a lot of time. She's lying. I don't like it.
KipShe reason is so stupid. That's the thing, like, so yeah, I thought it was so lame, okay, keeping this thing away from Jack about like the promise she kept for Sawyer, and like we don't know what that is yet, but it's just like as if she wouldn't just tell Jack this from like the get-go. It's not like Sawyer was an important part of Jack's life, too, on the island.
AmandaWell, and this idea, like, it would be one thing, like when you're watching this scene, and she's like, I can't say and he's like, Why? You have it what you what you expect her to say is he told me not to. That's not even what she says. He wouldn't want me to.
KipI know, like insane.
AmandaYou know how really, really fast way to drive an even bigger wedge between you and your partner is to suggest that you know something about someone else that intimately. Yeah, exactly. Like it his behavior, there's no excuse for it after, but like say to him, we all do like so. He's she's visiting his kid or whatever, right? Is that what it is? Yeah, yeah, okay.
KipAnd like, what's her name again?
AmandaCassidy. Cassidy, yeah. Who's Noreen? She has made that up.
KipShe made that up.
AmandaOh, even though I don't know why she couldn't have just said Cassidy, that was to throw us up, I guess. But even the phone call she had with uh presumably Cassidy was so familiar that I'm like, this is stupid.
KipYeah, yeah, you don't know like the way she was talking, it was like they were like almost like BFF.
TheresaI know, like they've been doing it for a while. Wait, but don't they know each other?
KipThey do, they do.
TheresaDo they know that they're yeah, yeah, they do now?
KipUm but they didn't before, they didn't in the previous flashbacks that we saw.
AmandaBut oh, but now presuming that they know that they're and they would have known so they do know each other, so but it just it seemed very familiar, yeah. And yeah, like and how emotional she gets about it and stuff.
KipThat's so silly.
AmandaIt it really does show that she does still clearly have some sort of weird there was never as big of a cutoff on theirs that we've seen so far as there was with Juliet and Jack, but like you know this is gonna be a sticking point, yeah.
KipA hundred percent. And she also knows Jack and Sawyer were at odds 99% of the time. Like frenemies, a polite way to say it.
TheresaI just don't know that we needed both love triangles in one episode. No, it was a little much. Yeah, I like I I I just yeah, it's so annoying to me.
KipIt was annoying that she kept that from Jack. I didn't believe that she would. No, um, even because you said
Flash Forwards Hurley’s Warning Jack Spirals
Kipit's not like Sawyer said, Don't tell Jack.
AmandaAnd they could have still fought over it without it being so dramatic and so secretive on her part. Like she could just be like, I'm doing this, and he'd be like, I don't really want you connected to him anymore. Exactly. And they could have still done it, but it's like, I can't tell you, trust me, Jack.
KipLike it's no, and even like even the way Jack said like, and again, I it's funny, I always sort of blame the creators of the show, but the way Jack said he made his choice, and then like we will see when that choice is made. It is nothing like how Jack's portraying it.
AmandaNo, it makes it sound like he didn't want to be with them, he didn't he and so it's just he made a choice to like be belligerent or stay behind or whatever. It's like you are like I actually am glad you brought that up because it reminded me that I had like a visceral reaction when he said that. I was like, you son of a bitch, yeah.
KipThey're like leading us on to believe it's something else than what it actually is.
AmandaYeah.
KipBut like um, but I when he said that about Aaron, I was like, you know what? He's not wrong. He's not wrong. Horrible timing, because Aaron was right there, but like he's not wrong. The way she's sort of like I don't like that created.
AmandaI can't say that around my son, or I can't have this around my son. It's like Kate. I know ten months ago you were in prison. Kate, maybe we'd be a little less judgy about what's wrong. I agree he shouldn't be drinking. I don't like that he dismissed the nanny, yeah, and then did all of this with a sleeping child. That's very irresponsible.
TheresaVery irresponsible.
AmandaBut to be like this high and mighty, like, I can't have this around my son, not your son, you're a liar, you were in prison like four minutes ago. Let's let's slow our roll here, Kate. But it was very sad. I I honestly more than I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone to be like, you didn't think this was bad. I did. I actually really didn't like the I'm the one who saved you. I'm the one who like I'm like, oh my god, that's so cringy, Jack.
KipSo cringy. Like when he said like at the beginning of the episode, and I feel like it was just for them to tie it together. Like, I said I would get everyone off the island, I said I would save everyone, and now he's like, I saved you. It's like, oh fuck off.
AmandaLike, it's stop, you know what? You're not a hero if you're throwing it in everyone's face constantly.
KipAnd I feel like that was just also a throwback to his last marriage, where basically he fell in love with her because he saved her and like she was able to walk and all this stuff or dance, and it's like, yeah, okay, we get it. You have a savior complex. Like, we know, yeah, clearly. Get over it.
AmandaHe's such a two on the Enneagram. You said a tool.
KipI'm like, well, he's that two sometimes, but I thought you said a two, as in like out of ten.
AmandaOut of ten.
KipFuck off.
AmandaNo, he looked foin.
TheresaNo, he's very attractive. Like, like, did we need that really long, like three minutes of him getting out of bed, holding a till, and then wandering around the house making coffee.
KipYes. So he could have put a shirt on, he didn't have to. Oh, the episode ended with Claire. The leaf baby. The leaf baby.
AmandaIt's the one with the leaves now. Oh. All right.
KipI guess that's kind of it. Yeah.
AmandaWell, I guess we can see. We've talked about the episode. Let's see how the episode affected yellow character rankings.
KipJiggling go.
TheresaI don't why did I say that? That's awful. That was strange. Um, okay, so we did have some changes this week. At number 17 to no surprise to no one. We have Michael, negative 7,940. Then we have Benjamin at number 16 with negative 565. Then we have Charlotte with negative 155. Miles at number 14 with a negative 150. Then into the positives, we have Lapidas with 140. Faraday with 190. And this is where the changes start to happen. At number at the jiggling, correct. At number 11, we have Kate with 755. Number 10, we have Locke with 855. Sorry, Kate has 775. Locke has 855. Curtis at number nine with 925. Juliet shot up to number eight with 1050. Followed by Dez at number seven with 1,060. Jack fell a little bit to 1,890. Then we have Sun at number 5 with 1900. Jinn at number 4 with 2,160. Sorry, at number 3 with 2,575. Said at number 2 with 2940. And our king, Hurley, 3,260.
AmandaSo it's so funny because Hurley's still on top. It's gonna take a lot to knock him down. But there was a moment when you were doing the ranking or when we were watching it and you had to give Hurley negatives because she found him creepy. Which was a good one. And she was very upset.
TheresaWhen he was being when he was being kind of like, We're all dead, and Charlie's. Yeah, she's like, oh, okay, my son. When he was, it was when toward the end when he's like, Who's gonna visit you? And I was like, Oh. I don't care for that. That's tough. That was a tough thing. I don't I don't like this one. Yeah. I I I don't fault him for thinking these things like shit's gone bad.
AmandaYeah.
TheresaBut like, you know, maybe you know, he can see. Like, let's ease on the kind of dude. Someone's gonna kill you! Like it's beyond that. I think change it up a little. Change the delivery. Not make it sound like someone's gonna kill you in your sleep.
AmandaOn that note, what do you think this episode's worth?
KipI gave it a six.
AmandaOh shit, it's even lower than I thought you were gonna do.
KipIt didn't do much for me. No. It was just like this is uh I never I will never skip a lost episode, but if I did, I would skip this one.
AmandaOh yeah, I I wouldn't skip it either. I'd give it a seven. Like, I it just was too fast. Like it was too. I like I've said a billion times during this episode, it just felt like they're like, oh shit, we're running out of time. We have to get from point A to point D, but we don't have time to go through B and C, so we're just gonna skip right to D.
TheresaSo I'm thinking. I wrote down my thing, so I can't change it, as you know. Um It's just interesting that you gave it a six and you give it a seven.
AmandaWhat'd you give it?
TheresaSo, like, I didn't love the two triangles. That was dumb.
Character Rankings Ratings And Next Week
TheresaUm, Claire, I mean, do you even matter anymore? I don't know. Aaron is still a baby and he's five or seven, I don't know. Um, however, I am I can't think of a word. I'm jubilant for Juliet. And she is the entire reason I will never skip this episode and why I give it a 7.5.
AmandaOh wow. I don't think you've ever rated something higher than us. No, that's why I'm confused.
KipAnd you know, that's great. Juliet is great, and she's the saving grace.
TheresaShe she's the only reason that rating exists. Oh, and Jack Shirtless.
KipYeah, that was.
TheresaThat was it looks like the important thing and the Bronco.
AmandaThe Bronco's all six of Kick's ratings, actually.
KipAlright, well, that's it for this week's episode of Let's Get Lost. Uh, next week we have Cabin Fever, where that is, I guess, the pentultimate episode of the season.
AmandaAnd it, I mean, it is good earlier. Like it is very heck yeah. It actually drives the plot forward in ways that we've been wanting for a while. So it doesn't exciting. So I don't want to see it.
KipWe'll see you next week for Cabin Fever. I won't be here. Bye!
AmandaGoodbye.
