A creepy cabin in the woods. A man in a rocking chair who claims he can speak for Jacob. A drugged-out Claire saying the baby is “where he’s supposed to be.” Then Lost drops a line so big we almost laugh: we have to move the island. We’re unpacking all of it as three best friends rewatch Lost Season 4, “Cabin Fever,” and try to separate island truth from the stories characters desperately want to believe.

We spend a lot of time on John Locke, because this episode is basically a character diagnosis. From his premature birth and miserable luck to Richard Alpert’s infamous childhood test (compass, knife, comic, and more), the show keeps teasing that Locke is special while showing how easily he can be steered. We talk about the real-world inspiration behind the test, why Richard reacts so harshly, and how Locke’s need for purpose makes him vulnerable to manipulation, whether it’s Ben, the island, or whatever is wearing a familiar face in that cabin.

On the freighter, things get uglier. Keamy is out of control, the crew is panicking, and the time drift between the island and the ship makes every decision feel even riskier. We question the logic of the escape plan, mourn the few level-headed people left aboard, and try to figure out why anyone would choose to stay.
